THE NEW HAS COME

Julie Wildschut- 2014

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

This year we have experienced a long, cold and difficult winter. All around us we see a landscape that is so bleak, brown, dirty and dead. We long for Spring with its fresh green grass, budding trees, beautiful flowers and warm temperatures. We feel a renewed zest for living and feel as if we’ve been reborn. Oftentimes, our personal lives resemble much of winter.

We experience many difficulties. We get discouraged. The future looks bleak and we sometimes feel lost and hopeless. Just as God gives us springtime that transforms the landscape, He sent His Son into the world to live and die for our sins and guilt. He alone can transform our hearts if we will believe and accept Him as Savior and Lord of our lives. If we let Him, He will walk with us through all of life’s ups and downs.

In Hebrews 13:5, He promises that He will never leave us or forsake us. Because Christ died and was resurrected from the dead, He also promises to take us to heaven after our earthly life ends. We can truly experience springtime of the heart if we can walk every day with Jesus by our side.
