Christmas Devotional - JEN BEUERMAN

John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

The Bible has so many amazing stories but the Christmas story is my favorite. The Old Testament is filled with people who looked forward to the day when God’s Son would be born. They trusted in God’s promise to bring them a Savior.

Fast forward to the New Testament and God picks a young couple to fulfill this promise and raise His perfect Son. I wonder how they felt. I’m sure fear was a huge part of the many emotions they dealt with . Mary and Joseph kept their faith in God to persevere through many unknown and fearful days.

God used Jesus, even as a helpless baby, to unite young (the shepherds) and old ( the wise men) to celebrate this long anticipated event. God’s people were not shocked. This is what they had hoped for, prayed for and trusted that God would deliver to them.

Jesus’s birth was a celebration of this promise. It must have been amazing to hear the angels sing that day!

Christ’s birth is just one of the many promises that God has kept to those who hope and trust in Him. This is the hope that Christian parents strive to pass from generation to generation.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
