Rev. Samuel Sutter, Lead Pastor
And [JESUS] gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13
God designed churches to equip God’s people to do God’s work. The biggest decisions and the greatest accomplishments are done through God’s equipped saints serving God here at Goshen Church.

Goshen Christian Reformed Church started in 1934 by a small group of immigrants who needed to find a way of raising their kids together to know God. A lot of our founders had to move north because because of the great depression. It was a time where jobs were scarces, cultural was falling apart and desperate times were met with bringing gratitude to God. (and it didn’t get better any time soon, our first church building was opened on August, 27th 1939. The next week Hitler invaded Poland. )
Obviously a lot has happened, but the reasons for starting Goshen Church have become our strengths. We work really hard at building community. When things are tough, this church becomes family. We love raising godly kids with character together. Our history isn’t perfect. We’ve learned a lot. But God has been faithful to us, and we find joy in bringing him praise and gratitude.
We believe the Bible is the Word of God in its entirety; infallible, verbally inspired, and inerrant in all that it affirms as originally written, and fully authoritative.
We believe that our first parents, Adam and Eve, fell into sin through disobedience to God’s will, and that all people are sinners by nature as well as by choice. Apart from the saving grace of God, we are eternally lost and destined for hell.
We believe the local church is a body of believers in Jesus Christ, whose purpose it is to exalt God in worship; to edify the saints through biblical instruction, prayer and fellowship; to evangelize the lost by testifying to the grace of Christ; and to extend the reach of God’s kingdom through missions. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus left two ordinances to be outwardly observed by the church namely, baptism and the Lord’s Table (Communion).
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe this God is the Creator of all things, including man, for His own pleasure and purposes.
We believe that all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by grace through faith are born again into the family of God and from that moment on possess an eternal home in the heavenly kingdom that awaits them.
Three creeds adopted by the worldwide church centuries ago summarize the most important tenets of our faith…
There are also three confessions which the Christian Reformed church holds to be standards…
CANONS of DORT
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and God the Son, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as our substitute and sin-bearer, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and is coming again. We believe in the imminent, visible and physical return of Jesus Christ according to the Scriptures.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune God and regenerates everyone who humbly repents of sin and believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. Every believer, from the moment of regeneration, is baptized by the Spirit into the body of Christ, is indwelt by the Spirit, and is sealed by the Spirit as a guarantee of eternal salvation that cannot be lost. By yielding control of the life to Christ, on a daily basis, the believer is filled with the Spirit and empowered for Christian service.
